Global Sourcing Manager

Working cross-functionally, Global Sourcing Manager owns sourcing and procurement of products developed by ThinkGeek as well as off-the-shelf products developed by 3rd parties. Associates in the role will be responsible for developing and implementing appropriate sourcing strategies to achieve the best cost, service and quality. They must have in-depth knowledge about the market for the assigned commodities and be able to identify the right suppliers and independently manage the end to end sourcing processes from RFx to contract closure. The associate will manage supplier relationships and will assist in maintaining supplier performance, review, and continuous improvements. Associates in the role will negotiate costs and other terms and conditions. Works internally and with suppliers to identify and drive cost reduction initiatives to meet cost/saving targets. Working in a team environment, the sourcing specialist will work cross-functionally to ensure sourcing results meet business needs and resolve issues timely when they arise. Associate may interact with his or her supervisor several times a week, perhaps daily, to receive guidance and feedback. Some non-routine activities may require a supervisor’s advance approval.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead development of sourcing strategies for assigned product categories and drive implementation
  • Follow end to end product development processes and lead sourcing activities for assigned projects including RFxs, business awards, contracts negotiations, sustaining cost negotiations
  • Conduct cost analysis and provide cost estimates/projections throughout product development processes as part of product P&L analysis
  • Participate in off-the-shelf product sourcing activities and assist with negotiations
  • Develop appropriate supply base strategy by constantly rationalizing as well as evaluating and developing new potential supplier candidates
  • Lead negotiations for best sourcing results including meeting target costs
  • Adhere to Total cost of Ownership (TCO)
  • Demonstrate contract drafting & thorough negotiation of contract terms and condition
  • Manage supplier performance and drive for continuous improvements
  • Drive cost reduction initiatives to achieve saving targets
  • Ensure procurement practices adhere to GameStop legal and compliance policies and guidelines

BASIC AND PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE)

  • Accredited Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, engineering, business, finance or related fields; MBA preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in new product development and strategic sourcing
  • 2+ years of Asian sourcing experiences, preferable in a retail or OEM environment
  • Mechanical/electrical engineering and business dual degree a strong plus
  • Bi-lingual- English and Chinese Mandarin

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, JOB SKILLS, ABILITIES

  • Proficient relationship building skills, demonstrated by the ability to construct productive, sustainable cross-functional partnerships
  • Proficient ability to directly sourcing materials and supplies, from both domestic and foreign sources.
  • Proficient analytical skills and proficiency in the use of PC software tools for reports, analysis, audits, and presentations.
  • Proficient broad and enterprise view of the business and its relationship to sourcing role
  • Proficient project planning skills, including the ability to organize, prioritize and control job responsibilities in order to meet deadlines in an environment with overlapping and potentially conflicting priorities
  • Proficient understanding of essential leadership skills including, but not limited to, working collaboratively with others; providing, seeking, and responding favorably to feedback; identifying, developing, and retaining talent; bringing out the best in others; remaining focused on what really matters to the business, including shareholders, customers, and people; and making creative, courageous decisions in service to others
  • Possess the learning capacity to receive and apply cross-functional training; willingness to assist other functions and work groups as needed so the department achieves or exceeds its overall business objectives
  • Proficient situational analysis, negotiation, problem solving, and decision-making abilities
