Licensing Manager

Working independently, ThinkGeek’s Manager, Licensing is responsible for managing key licensing accounts, as well as working with cross functional teams internally to optimize creative, financial and brand performance of ThinkGeek’s licensed portfolio.  Day-to-day licensing operations for designated accounts will be owned by the Manager, while large strategic and financial decisions will be made with the Director.


  • Manage licensing accounts as Key Point of Contact,    maintaining strong partner relationships.
  • Work closely with Product Management teams to create and maintain annual product lines and sell in to licencors when required.
  • Assist Director in preparing quarterly licensing forecasts and yearly budgets for licensors, working with internal projections with Wholesale, Product Management, and Finance teams as applicable and report same to licensors on timely basis.
  • Create pitch decks for potential licensing partners with solid, consistent financial, creative and branding content.
  • Assist Director in managing review and execution of contracts across global business units.
  • Present and sell-in new opportunities to existing licensing partners.
  • Liaise with Finance to ensure accurate, on-time reporting of royalties on a quarterly basis.
  • Ability to travel to meetings, conferences, and trade shows when required (<20%).

  • Bachelor’s degree in Licensing, Merchandising or related field from an accredited program required
  • 7+ years of experience in licensing, marketing or consumer products role required.
  • 5-8 years of intellectual property management experience preferred.
  • Strong preference for candidates with experience working at a major IP holder/ Studio or for a Consumer Products company in a licensing capacity.
  • Knowledge of Product Development a plus.


  • Strong knowledge of Studio and Licensor operations and how to work with different functions at licensors to ensure best possible deal terms for ThinkGeek and the GME family.
  • Highly proficient presentation skills to craft decks and effectively influence audiences of varying responsibility.
  • Proficient at forecasting for internal and external stakeholders by brand and category.
  • Proficient project planning skills, including the ability to organize, prioritize and control job responsibilities in order to meet deadlines in an environment with overlapping and potentially conflicting priorities.
  • Highly proficient ability to read/comprehend complex displayed and/or printed statistical data/information and reports.
  • Leveraging high levels of self-awareness, self-management, social awareness and relationship management, the capacity to manage behavior, navigate social complexities and make personal decisions to achieve positive results.
  • Highly proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office software programs, especially Outlook, Excel and Word.
  • Familiar with collectibles, pop culture, and/or video gaming industries.
  • Ability to remain flexible and adapt to changing priorities with promptness, efficiency and ease.
  • Consistently demonstrates a commitment to ThinkGeek & GME policies and procedures, including but not limited to, attendance, confidentiality, conflict of interest and ethical responsibilities
